The history of North Shore Pharmacies starts in 1923
Howard J. Thompson was a pharmacist educated at Roemheld School of Pharmacy in 1923. He opened his first pharmacy in Whitefish Bay on Lake Dr. and Silver Spring Rd, which would later go on to become Fitzgerald’s Pharmacy. In 1932, he opened his pharmacy in Shorewood, Thompson’s Pharmacy, originally at the corner of Capitol and Morris, and was there for 16 years. In 1949, he moved into his newly built pharmacy at its present address, and it has been at that location ever since.
Over its 85+ years, North Shore Pharmacy had several owners, each building on the previous owner’s legacy of patient care and convenience. In March 2020, the current owner, Kyle Beyer, took over, and the official name change to North Shore Pharmacy took place Fall of 2020. Work was completed to update the exterior and interior of the building to improve its aesthetic as well as functionality for patients and employees.
North Shore Pharmacy added its 2nd location in March of 2022, when the previous owner of Ye Olde Pharmacy & Wellness Center in Cedarburg retired, followed by a name change to North Shore Pharmacy and Compounding Center in February 2023. In addition to serving Ozaukee county residents, both locations now benefit from its state of the art compounding laboratories, as well as its large inventory of professional supplements and durable medical equipment.
As healthcare has changed, so have the needs of our patients. What used to be a soda fountain and beauty counter is now medical supplies and expanded OTC products. We have updated our product mix to give you a wide variety of options to keep your healthcare simple and local.
